Studies of the Physical Environment of Costa Rica
 

Course Content: Studies of the Physical Environment of Costa Rica will focus on the study and restoration of the tropical rainforests. The course will be based out of the Organization of Tropical Research Station at La Selva which is located in the Caribbean rainforest of northwestern Costa Rica. The course is designed to be a hands-on experience in effective field techniques. Students will increase their understanding of tropical ecology, conservation and forest restoration. Field activities at the station will include natural history walks to learn about the forest and completion of a group field project. Group field projects are two day research exercise in which groups of 4-5 students design an experiment, collect the data, analyze the data and present their results to the entire class.
