
Mareve VanVoorhis earned her A.A.S
Degree in Child Care from Dutchess Community College. She continued on to
earn her B.S. in Child Care Administration from Empire State University. Mareves
Masters Degree is in Humanistic Education from SUNY New Paltz. Mareve worked many years in
Direct Care ranging from working with young emotionally disturbed children to adolescents.
She has extensive experience in both large residential centers and small community based
group homes. She also worked with Developmentally Disabled adults.
Mareve, our current Program Chair of Human Services, was one of the initial field supervisors for the Hunan
Services program. She worked part time for Dutchess Community College beginning in
September of 1975. Several years later she became full time and has been here ever since.
Mareve has served as Field Supervisor for all of the Human Services Programs and has
taught a variety of program courses.
In 1996 Mareve became the first Family Development Credentialing
Trainer for Dutchess County. This is a major New York State interagency initiative that
provides front line workers with the skills and competencies they need to support
individuals and families to attain a healthy self reliance and interdependence with their
communities.
Mareve served for several years as Vice President of the Dutchess
County Child Development Association, which provides resources and referral information
and monitors child care agencies in Dutchess County. Mareve is also a member of the
Mid-Hudson Coalition for the Development of Direct Care Practice and has filled many other
positions in the New York State Human Services Educators Association.
In her spare time, Mareve enjoys many activities with her husband and
four children.
