Course
guidelines & requirements for the lecture component
of the course:
1.
Reading of assigned chapters in the textbook; completion
of exams; completion of report on one of the topics
given; completion of group drug presentation.
Reports
must be turned in on the due date. Handwritten papers
are not accepted!
2.
Students should bring the textbook to class.
3. In
regard to absences: Students are expected to attend
classes unless "officially" absent from
school. Official absences include all day field trips,
early departure for interscholastic events and religious
observance. COLLEGE
POLICY REQUIRES THAT EXCESSIVE ABSENCES MUST BE REPORTED
TO THE DEAN OF STUDENTS.
All absences and lateness affect your ability to
participate in the course, and unless
absences/lateness are due to the reasons mentioned
above, they affect your grade. Your participation cannot
be adequately evaluated if you are not in attendance.
4.
Students MUST
take all tests on the dates scheduled, and must provide
their own #2 pencil for all tests. Students should bring
pencils to class regularly.
If a student fails to take an exam on the date that it
is scheduled, s/he receives a "0" for that
test. For unit exams, the only instance in which a
make-up test will be given is one in which the student
can produce a note from a physician explaining that
illness resulted in the absence.
5. The
3 unit tests (the third of which is the final exam)
include material from text readings and class lectures.
The breakdown of the tests is as follows:
Test
#1: chapters 1-5
Test #2: chapters 6-10
Test #3: (final exam) chapters 11-15
The
tests consist of multiple choice
questions.
6.
COLLEGE REGULATIONS DICTATE THAT THERE WILL BE NO EATING
OR DRINKING IN CLASSROOMS.
7.
BEING LATE TO CLASS, LEAVING EARLY, AND BEHAVING
INAPPROPRIATELY ARE UNACCEPTABLE. STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED
TO REMAIN IN CLASS UNTIL CLASS ENDS. STUDENTS BEHAVING
INAPPROPRIATELY WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE THE CLASSROOM!
