Saturday, and 2:00 p.m. matinee Sunday.
Laughing Stock:
The
Masquer’sGuild
presents this hilarious comedy by Charles Morey directed by
adjunct instructor Rita Carver. The uproariously funny script
explores the antics of summer-stock theater complete with a wild
cast of characters, backstage snafus, and of course the romances
that inevitably spring up during tense times. An old barn serves
as performing space, rehearsal hall, and scene shop rolled into
one. Despite the fact the resources were meager, when everybody
cooperated and found a way to tell a particular story honestly
at its simplest level there was some work to be proud of.
Admission is $5, free for DCC students. For information, contact
Rita Carver at (845) 431-8696 or visit
www.masquersguild.com
Thursday through Sunday, April 12 through 15, James and Betty
Hall Theatre 8:00 p.m. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, and 2:00 p.m.
matinee Sunday.
Sherlock Holmes
or The Strange Case of Alice Faulkner: The Performing Arts Program presents the only Sherlock
Holmes story that has the famous sleuth fall in love with one of
the most intriguing women in all literature – the incomparable
Alice Faulkner. The adaptation by master playwright William
Gillette still remains controversial. Even the creator of the
original Sherlock Holmes stories, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, was
upset as Ms. Alice wrapped the stalwart Holmes around her little
finger. In Sherlock Holmes you will get a great mystery to
solve, dynamic characters like Dr. Watson, Professor Moriarty,
“Lightfoot” McTague and Count Van Stalburg, plus the one and
only Alice Faulkner. Directed by Professor Steve Press.
Admission is $10, $5 for DCC students, seniors and DCC staff.
Tickets for open seating will be sold at the theater one half
hour before show times. For information, call 431-8696.

2007 and The Miracle Worker (the Broadway
sensation based on the moving story of Helen Keller) in April
2008.
